WiesPaten Project: A Mutual Benefit for Students and Sponsoring Companies

The WiesPaten project, a student sponsorship initiative, is making waves in Wiesbaden by providing intensive small group lessons and personal encounters with female and male mentors for young people. The project, which celebrated its 15th anniversary at the IHK Wiesbaden in April, is a collaboration between the IHK Wiesbaden and sponsoring companies, with WICM GmbH being a key partner.

The WiesPaten project aims to provide concrete support to young people, offering academic assistance alongside shared experiences. Last school year, participating students visited the RheinMain CongressCenter, attended "Wiesbaden on Ice" at the Kurhaus Wiesbaden, received support for their final presentations, and participated in the WiesPaten summer festival.

For sponsoring companies like WICM GmbH, the project offers a unique opportunity to learn firsthand what moves young people today, as mentioned by Simon Rottloff of WICM. The project is seen as part of the business community's social responsibility to promote young talent and contribute to society.

The IHK Wiesbaden, under the leadership of Sabine Meder, CEO, views supporting young people as part of their institutional DNA. According to Meder, the economy is aware of its responsibility towards society and the promotion of young talent. The IHK Wiesbaden has taken on a sponsorship for the first time through the WiesPaten project.

The partnership between WICM GmbH and the Wilhelm-Leuschner School in Kostheim is solid, with WICM sponsoring the school for the coming years. The collaboration allows students to benefit from the expertise of committed students and professionals from the sponsoring companies, fostering a mix of knowledge transfer, academic support, and social activities.

Shared experiences and relationships based on trust and appreciation are a focus of the WiesPaten project. The project promotes equal opportunities by meeting youth where they are on their individual paths, providing a safe and supportive environment for personal and academic growth.

In conclusion, the WiesPaten project is a win-win for students, committed students, and sponsoring companies. For pupils, it offers concrete support and guidance. For sponsoring companies, it provides insights into youth motivations. For society, it promotes young talent and equal opportunity. The project is an important building block for creating equal opportunities for young people, as emphasized by the IHK Wiesbaden.
