Yale Legend Peter Salovey Returns to Teaching After 11 Years
Former Yale University President Peter Salovey is set to return to teaching next year. The renowned psychologist last stood in front of a classroom in fall 2012, but alumni eagerly await his comeback.
Salovey, who served as university president from 2013 to 2024, has taught 'Introduction to Psychology' nearly every year from 1986 to 2003. His dynamic teaching style and student-friendly approach earned him the nickname 'Easy A Salovey'.
Alumni recall his 'Psychology and the Law' class with fondness. Despite various pranks staged by students, Salovey handled them with grace. The class was so popular that it was taught in Battell Chapel.
Since leaving the presidency, Salovey has worked on several projects. He has published an article on emotional intelligence and conducted research on human jealousy and envy. Next year, he plans to teach a seminar on the psychology of leadership in higher education and a lecture on emotional intelligence.
Dozens of alumni have expressed their excitement about Salovey's return to teaching. They believe Yalies will be lucky to learn from him again. Salovey's upcoming courses are expected to provide valuable insights into leadership qualities and emotional intelligence.
