Youth Celebration in 2025: Young adults championing competition and advancement worldwide
Young people entering the job market in Bavaria can expect long-term stable career prospects, particularly in the Bavarian M+E industry. This is according to Bertram Brossardt, CEO of bayme vbw, who has expressed admiration for the commitment and motivation of the young people who participated in the 'vbw JugendWerkstatt' events.
The 'vbw JugendWerkstatt' events, launched by bayme vbw vbw, aim to provide a platform for exchange with Generation Z about their expectations for the future world of work. The first event was held in Munich in March of this year, with another event held on June 25th.
The current generation, primarily Generation Z (born 1997-2012), has clear expectations for future employers. They prioritize stability, clear advancement paths, work-life balance, mental health support, and a strong sense of workplace community. According to Brossardt, these young people are tomorrow's workers, and some are today's workers.
Specifically, Gen Z values job security and stability, career growth opportunities, work-life balance and mental health, community and connection, and fair compensation. Bavarian companies are adapting to these expectations to attract and retain young talent.
To address these expectations, Bavarian companies are expanding roles in industries stable in Bavaria, such as manufacturing, technology, finance, and healthcare. They are also focusing on fostering inclusive workplace communities and promoting open communication to meet Gen Z’s desire for connection. Bavarian firms offer competitive salaries and benefits packages, emphasizing financial empowerment consistent with Gen Z priorities.
To tackle the challenges of rising entry-level expectations, some Bavarian companies are reevaluating hiring practices to focus more on skills development rather than just years of experience, easing access for new graduates. Many Bavarian companies provide training and upskilling opportunities, helping young employees stay relevant amid technological change, which supports their long-term career growth.
Upon successful completion of their apprenticeship, around 91% of Bavarian M+E companies plan to hire their apprentices on a fixed or permanent basis. This highlights the importance of the next generation for the competitiveness of companies in Bavaria.
Brossardt drew a positive interim conclusion from the first event, stating that it was insightful and confirmed his positive impression. He is looking forward to continuing the dialogue with young people through the 'vbw JugendWerkstatt' events.
